Physicians Support Public Option
Notwithstanding the conventional wisdom in DC, it's been clear for quite a while that the public supports a strong public option to hold insurance companies accountable and provide consumers with real choice.
Now it's also clear that doctors support a public option by the same overwhleming margin. A new poll released by the New England Journal of Medicine and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation found that 73% of doctors support either a public option or a single-payer plan. The strong support runs across all specialties and across all geographic lines.
So don't fall for the lie that physicans oppose any type of new government involvement in health care. It's simply not true. Those on the front lines cleary see the need for change.
Please follow Sherrod Brown's advice and speak out in favor of a strong public plan. The good news is that the new chair of the Senate HELP Committe, Sen. Tom Harkin, is picking up Ted Kennedy's torch and promising to see his work through to the end. Let's give him all the support he needs.
