OH-02: Is Schmidt's Chief of Staff Playing A Political Role On The Taxpayers Dime?
The other day I posted a quote that seemed a little strange from Jean Schmidt's Chief of Staff Barry Bennett:
"We are not saying she was involved in human testing. But she wrote the report, she reviewed all the data and she took their money — their dirty money — and put it in her bank account."
At the time I thought it was a little strange that one of her congressional staff (rather than her campaign staff) would be talking to the press about a campaign fundraising letter, but I decided to let it go.
Well yesterday, Bennett did it again. He told Politicker OH the following about a recent poll showing Victoria Wulsin closing in on Schmidt:
"Her own release says that only 48 percent of the poll would ‘even consider' replacing Jean," Bennett said. "I guess 52 would not. If they believe their numbers I assume they are working on their withdraw speech."
So what do you think? Is Bennett playing a campaign role, or is he just trying to earn the $80,000+ that he's been paid so far this year?
