OH-18: Gibbs Loses 1/4 Of Cash On Hand
Talk about an epic fail. While complaining that Zack Space violated election rules with a video early in the campaign, the Bob Gibbs campaign was involved in some far more substantial rule breaking. And they just got caught.
The FEC has found 16 instances where the Gibbs Campaign accepted illegal donations totaling $50,467.01. Gibbs had 60 days, now long passed, to disburse the cash. If they failed to do so in that time, they must refund it. The FEC has given them until September 28th to prove they’ve dealt with the money, or else they could face further action such as fines.
Considering that Space has already far outpaced Gibbs in fundraising, this is mostly just salt in the wounds.
