[UPDATED]:Governor suddenly cancels afternoon appearances (again)

Even the Dispatch feels battered by all the back and forth developments over the Dann saga.  In their post "It might be nothing, but...," their reporting that the Governor has suddenly and unexpectedly announced that he will not be making his out-of-Columbus appearances today to meet with his chief-of-staff.

Look, I know for a fact that John Haseley and Ted have no problem chatting on a cell phone, so it's got to be fairly important to keep Ted from traveling.

And the last time Ted suddenly cancelled his public appearances...

Don't worry about packing, Marc Dann, the Inspector General has already done that for you today!

[UPDATE]: It's confirmed.  Strickland is staying in Columbus today due to the situation with Dann.  (HT: Plunderbund)

Degree from Stanford

Maybe Stanford sent some oppo research results back with Lee Fisher and they need to coordinate their own media response.  Just idle speculation.

Why is Gov appearing with him?

Dispatch is reporting that Dann and Strickland will be speaking at 4:45. I resepct the Governor's political instincts, but why would you want to get that close to Dann right now? I would think you would want to denounce him one last time and then quickly take credit for him finally leaving. Seems a tad awkward with him standing right next to you. I guess we will find out soon - unless this one gets canceled as well.

Probably to announce replacement

DJF, if Kent Markus is the interim replacment, the Gov will prolly announce it after Dann resigns.
